Starting Out in Music
Maria Brink's first band was called Pulse. They were based in Albany, New York. Later, she moved to Los Angeles, California, in 2002. She wanted to find a band to work with there. Before forming a band, she sang in coffee shops and bars. She also worked in stores to support herself.
In 2004, she met Chris Howorth at an audition. At first, Howorth was unsure about having a female singer. But he soon realized her talent. He apologized and asked her to join. They formed a band called Dying Star with drummer Jeff Fabb. Later, guitarist Blake Bunzel and bassist Josh Newell joined. The band then changed their name to In This Moment.

Maria Brink and In This Moment have released eight studio albums. Their first album, Beautiful Tragedy, came out in 2007. They continued to release new music regularly. Their albums include The Dream (2008) and A Star-Crossed Wasteland (2010).
Later albums like Blood (2012) and Black Widow (2014) became very popular. Their more recent albums are Ritual (2017), Mother (2020), and Godmode (2023). Through these albums, Maria Brink has become a well-known voice in metal music.
