Maricao Afuera is a special kind of area called a barrio. It is located in the town of Maricao, Puerto Rico. In 2010, about 2,076 people lived there.
A Look at History
Puerto Rico became a territory of the United States after the Spanish–American War. This happened because of a peace agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898.
In 1899, the United States government counted everyone in Puerto Rico. This count is called a census. The census found that 1,390 people lived in Maricao Afuera barrio at that time.
