Mariel Rodriguez (born August 10, 1984), whose full name is Maria Erlinda Lucille Sazon Termulo-Padilla, is a famous Filipino-American TV host, actress, model, and VJ. She is well-known for her energetic personality and has hosted many popular TV shows in the Philippines.

Growing Up
Mariel Rodriguez was born Maria Erlinda Lucille Sazon Termulo on August 10, 1984. People know her by her nickname "Mariel." When she was young, her parents separated, so she grew up with her grandparents in Parañaque, Philippines.
She went to De La Salle Santiago Zobel School for elementary and high school. Later, she studied at De La Salle University. There, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philippine Studies, focusing on Filipino in Mass Media.
Mariel has one sister named Kaye Garcia, who owns a clothing line. She also has two half-siblings, Ethan and Julia Termulo, who live in New Jersey, USA.
Mariel's Journey in Showbiz
Mariel started her career at just 15 years old as a commercial model. She appeared in ads for brands like Clean & Clear.
Becoming an MTV VJ
In 2004, Mariel was chosen for the TV show Rouge on MTV Asia. She auditioned by webcam and flew to Singapore to get the part. Her role on the show caught the attention of MTV Philippines executives. They made her a VJ in December 2004. She worked at MTV until April 2006.
Joining GMA Network
After MTV, Mariel signed with GMA Network. She became a regular host on Extra Challenge. She also appeared in the TV series Love to Love.
Moving to ABS-CBN
In 2005, Mariel moved to ABS-CBN. She became a co-host for the popular reality show Pinoy Big Brother until 2010. She also became well-known for co-hosting noon-time shows like Wowowee (2006–10), Pilipinas Win Na Win (2010), and Happy Yipee Yehey! (2011).
Mariel also acted in several TV shows. In 2008, she starred as Varga in the Komiks series. She also appeared in Precious Hearts Romances Presents shows like Bud Brothers and Love Is Only in the Movies in 2009. In 2010, she was in the film Cinco.
Time at TV5
In September 2011, Mariel moved to TV5. She continued her hosting career on Willie Revillame's variety show Wil Time Bigtime from 2011 to 2013. After that show ended, she continued to co-host Wowowillie.
Return to ABS-CBN
In November 2015, Mariel returned to ABS-CBN. She rejoined Pinoy Big Brother: 737 as a co-host, working with Toni Gonzaga and Bianca Gonzalez. She also appeared as a celebrity houseguest on 737.
Later in 2015, Mariel became a guest host on It's Showtime with Amy Perez. Soon after, they both became official main co-hosts of the show.
New Home at ALLTV
In September 2022, Mariel signed a contract with AMBS. She became part of the new Channel 2 TV station, ALLTV.
Personal Life and Family
Mariel Rodriguez is an American citizen. She married actor-director Robin Padilla at the Taj Mahal in Agra, India, on August 19, 2010. They first met on the Philippine noon-time variety show Wowowee, where Robin was a temporary presenter. Mariel is a Catholic, and she did not change her religion after marrying Robin, who is a Muslim.
Mariel faced some challenges in starting her family. On May 21, 2016, she announced on It's Showtime that she was pregnant for the third time. On August 13, 2016, it was announced that she and Robin would have a daughter. Their first daughter, Maria Isabella, was born on November 14, 2016, in Delaware, USA. Their second daughter, Maria Gabriela, was born on November 15, 2019, also in the US.
