Mariel is famous for her lively personality and for hosting many popular TV shows in the Philippines. She has worked with major TV networks like ABS-CBN, TV5, and ALLTV.

Mariel Rodriguez's Early Life
Mariel Rodriguez, whose full name is Maria Erlinda Lucille Sazon Termulo, was born on August 10, 1984. When she was a child, her parents separated. Because of this, she lived with and was raised by her grandparents in Parañaque, Philippines.
Mariel attended De La Salle Santiago Zobel School for both grade school and high school. Later, she went to De La Salle University for college. There, she studied Philippine Studies, focusing on Filipino in Mass Media.
Mariel Rodriguez's Career Journey
Mariel Rodriguez began her career at just 15 years old. She started as a commercial model, appearing in ads for products like Clean & Clear.
Becoming an MTV VJ
In 2004, Mariel joined the TV show Rouge on MTV Asia. She auditioned by sending a video through a webcam and then flew to Singapore for the final tryout. Her role on Rouge caught the attention of MTV Philippines. In December 2004, she became a VJ, which means a video jockey, hosting music video shows. She left MTV in April 2006.
Hosting and Acting on GMA Network
After MTV, Mariel signed with GMA Network. She became a regular host on the show Extra Challenge. She also appeared in the TV series Love to Love.
Moving to ABS-CBN
In 2005, Mariel moved to ABS-CBN. She became a co-host for the popular reality competition Pinoy Big Brother until 2010. She also became well-known for co-hosting noon-time shows like Wowowee (from 2006 to 2010), Pilipinas Win Na Win (in 2010), and Happy Yipee Yehey! (in 2011).
Besides hosting, Mariel also acted. She starred in the Komiks series Varga in 2008, playing the main character, Varga. She also appeared in two parts of Precious Hearts Romances Presents: Bud Brothers and Love Is Only in the Movies in 2009. In 2010, she was in the movie Cinco.
Time at TV5
In September 2011, Mariel moved to TV5. She continued her hosting career on Willie Revillame's variety show Wil Time Bigtime from 2011 to 2013. After that show ended, she continued to co-host Wowowillie.
Return to ABS-CBN and New Ventures
In November 2015, Mariel returned to ABS-CBN. She rejoined Pinoy Big Brother: 737 as a co-host, reuniting with fellow hosts Toni Gonzaga and Bianca Gonzalez. She also appeared as a celebrity houseguest on the show.
Later in 2015, Mariel became a guest host on It's Showtime alongside Amy Perez. Soon after, they both became official main co-hosts of the show.
In September 2022, Mariel signed a contract with AMBS. This made her part of the new Channel 2 TV station, ALLTV. In 2025, she returned to TV5 as a guest co-host and performer on Eat Bulaga!.
Mariel Rodriguez's Personal Life
Mariel Rodriguez married actor and director Robin Padilla on August 19, 2010. Their wedding took place at the Taj Mahal in Agra, India. They first met on the Philippine noon-time variety show Wowowee, where Robin was a temporary presenter. Mariel is Catholic, and she did not change her religion after marrying Robin, who is Muslim.
On May 21, 2016, Mariel announced on an episode of It's Showtime that she was expecting her third pregnancy. On August 13, 2016, it was shared that she and Robin would have a daughter. Their first daughter, Maria Isabella, was born on November 14, 2016, in Delaware, United States. Their second child, Maria Gabriela, was born on November 15, 2019, also in the United States.
