The Marine Corps Air-Ground Museum was a special place in Quantico, Virginia, located at Brown Field on Marine Corps Base Quantico. This museum showed how the Marines use different types of equipment together. It was all about the "Marine Air-Ground Team."

The museum displayed many historic items. You could see various Marine Corps vehicles, like tanks and trucks. It also had different kinds of artillery and aircraft. These aircraft included both airplanes (fixed-wing) and helicopters (rotary-wing). The museum helped visitors understand how these different parts work together in military operations. It even had some equipment from other countries, like a Soviet SU-76M self-propelled gun. The museum closed on November 15, 2002. Its collection helped create the National Museum of the Marine Corps.

History of the Museum

The museum first opened its doors on May 6, 1978. Back then, it was called the Marine Corps Aviation Museum. It focused mainly on aircraft.

In the mid-1980s, the museum's collection grew much larger. It started to include more than just planes. This is when it became known as the Marine Corps Air-Ground Museum. The museum began in two large aircraft hangars. A third hangar was added in 1990 to hold all the new exhibits.
