Mario Ignacio Regueiro Pintos (born September 14, 1978) is a retired football player from Uruguay. He mostly played as a left winger, which means he played on the side of the field. He could also play on the other side or even as a forward (a player who scores goals).
Mario Regueiro spent most of his career playing in Spain. He played 167 matches and scored 25 goals in Spain's top league, called La Liga. Besides Uruguay and Spain, he also played football in Greece and Argentina. He was part of the Uruguay national team and played in the 2002 FIFA World Cup.

Mario Regueiro's Club Career
Mario Regueiro was born in Montevideo, Uruguay. He started his professional football journey with two local teams. These teams were C.A. Cerro and Club Nacional de Football.
Playing in Spain: Racing Santander
In 2000, Mario moved to Spain to play for Racing de Santander. He quickly became an important player for the team. In his last year with Racing, during the 2004–05 season, he scored eight goals. This was the second-highest number of goals for his team that year. Racing Santander managed to stay in the top league.
Playing for Valencia CF
In June 2005, Mario Regueiro joined another big Spanish club, Valencia CF. He moved to Valencia for free, which is called a free transfer in football. At Valencia, he was often used as a substitute player.
Injuries and Loans
During the 2006–07 season, Mario had a serious knee injury. This meant he missed most of the season. After that season, he also became a Spanish citizen.
In 2008, Valencia loaned Mario to Real Murcia. After that, he was loaned to Aris Thessaloniki F.C. in Greece. He later signed a full contract with the Greek team. However, he only stayed for one season before returning to his home country and playing for Nacional again.
Playing in Argentina
In July 2010, when he was almost 32 years old, Mario Regueiro moved to Argentina. He joined the team Club Atlético Lanús.
Mario Regueiro's International Career
Mario Regueiro played for the Uruguay national team 29 times. His first game was on October 8, 2000. It was a qualifying match for the 2002 FIFA World Cup against Argentina. Uruguay lost that game 1–2.
World Cup Appearance
Mario played in the main 2002 FIFA World Cup tournament in Japan and South Korea. He played in two matches during the group stage. These games were against Denmark (Uruguay lost 1–2) and Senegal (a 3–3 draw). Uruguay did not make it past the group stage that year.
Youth Team Success
Before playing for the senior national team, Mario also played for the Uruguay under-20 team. He helped them finish second at the 1997 FIFA World Youth Championship. This was a great achievement for the youth team.
