The Story of Marion
A place to send and receive mail, called a post office, has been open in Marion since 1880. The city was named after Francis Marion. He was a brave officer who fought in the American Revolutionary War.
Marion is also home to a large Amish community. These families moved to Marion in 1995. The Amish live a simple lifestyle. They often do not use modern technology like cars or electricity. As of 2024, about 575 Amish people live in Marion. They are part of five different church groups.
