Mark D. Blount, born on November 30, 1975, is a retired American professional basketball player. He played as a center for four different teams in the National Basketball Association (NBA) from 2000 to 2009.

Basketball Career
Mark Blount started his high school basketball journey in Summerville, South Carolina. He played for Summerville High School during his freshman year. Later, he moved to Oak Hill Academy in Virginia. For his senior year, he played at Dobbs Ferry High School in New York. There, he was named "Mr. Basketball" for Westchester County.
After high school, Mark played college basketball at the University of Pittsburgh. In the 1997 NBA draft, the Seattle SuperSonics picked him as the 54th overall player. Before joining the NBA, he spent three seasons playing in minor American basketball leagues.
Joining the NBA
On August 1, 2000, Mark Blount signed with the Boston Celtics as a free agent. In his first season with the Celtics, he led the team in blocked shots. He had 76 blocks, which was the most by a Celtics rookie since Kevin McHale in the 1980–81 season.
During the 2003–04 NBA season, Blount had a great year. He averaged 10.3 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 1.29 blocks per game. He also played about 29.3 minutes per game. One of his best games was on March 1, 2004, against the Orlando Magic. In that game, he scored 28 points and grabbed 21 rebounds. After this successful season, the Celtics signed him to a big six-year contract.
Playing for Different Teams
Mark Blount played for several NBA teams during his career. After his time with the Celtics, he was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves in January 2006. This trade involved several players moving between the teams.
In October 2007, he was traded again, this time to the Miami Heat. He played for the Heat until 2008. In August 2009, he returned to the Minnesota Timberwolves in another trade. Mark Blount's NBA career ended when he was waived by the Timberwolves in March 2010.
Life After Basketball
After his basketball career ended in 2010, Mark Blount started new ventures. He bought properties for investment in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. He also opened several Auntie Anne's pretzel shops in that area. As of 2018, he lives in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He continues to invest in real estate. Mark Blount is also the author of a book called My First Triple Double.
