A Flying Start: His Career
Markus Eisenbichler began his journey in the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup in December 2011. He competed in the famous Four Hills Tournament in Oberstdorf, Germany. This tournament is a big deal in the ski jumping world, and it was a great start for his professional career.
A huge moment for him came on 23 February 2019. He became the individual World Champion on the large hill in Seefeld in Tirol, Austria. A "large hill" is one of the two main sizes of hills used in top competitions. Winning on this hill showed he was one of the best in the world. At the same championship, he also won two more gold medals with his team.
He didn't stop there. On 22 March 2019, he got his very first World Cup win. This happened at a special event called Ski Flying in Planica, Slovenia. Ski flying uses even bigger hills than large hills, allowing jumpers to fly for incredible distances.
The next year, on 12 December 2020, he won a bronze medal at the Ski Flying World Championships, also in Planica. This proved he was a top competitor in both ski jumping and ski flying.
