Marlin Tyrell Jackson (born June 30, 1983) is a former American football player. He played as a cornerback in the National Football League (NFL). Marlin was known for his skills in both college and professional football. He played for the Michigan Wolverines in college. Later, he was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts and won a Super Bowl with them.

Early Life and High School Football

Marlin Jackson was born in Sharon, Pennsylvania. He grew up playing football for the Sharon Tigers high school team. He was an amazing player on both offense and defense.

On defense, he made 281 tackles and caught 18 interceptions. Four of these interceptions he returned for touchdowns! On offense, he ran for 330 yards and caught 57 passes for over 1,000 yards. He also scored 18 touchdowns as a receiver.

Because of his great skills, Marlin earned many honors. He was named the Pennsylvania high school player of the year. He was also chosen for the USA Today All-American team.

College Football Star

After high school, Marlin went to the University of Michigan. He played for the Michigan Wolverines football team from 2001 to 2004. He quickly became a star player.

In 2002, he was named a first-team All-American. This means he was one of the best college football players in the country. By his senior year in 2004, he was a team captain. He was again chosen as a first-team All-Big Ten player and a consensus All-American.

Marlin was so good at stopping passes that opposing teams often avoided throwing the ball near him. He ended his college career as one of Michigan's all-time leaders in breaking up passes.

Playing in the NFL

Marlin Jackson was a top player in the 2005 NFL Draft. The Indianapolis Colts picked him in the first round. This was a big achievement for him.

Indianapolis Colts

Marlin joined the Indianapolis Colts in 2005. As a rookie, he played in 15 games and made 52 tackles. He also had one interception. In his second season, he became an even more important player. He made 82 tackles and had another interception.

One of his most famous plays happened on January 21, 2007. In a very important game, the AFC Championship Game, Marlin intercepted a pass from quarterback Tom Brady. This play helped the Colts win the game and go to Super Bowl XLI. The Colts then won the Super Bowl against the Chicago Bears, making Marlin a Super Bowl champion!

Later in his career with the Colts, Marlin faced some injuries. He had knee surgery in 2008, which caused him to miss part of that season. He left the Colts in 2010.

Philadelphia Eagles

In 2010, Marlin signed with the Philadelphia Eagles. He was going to play a new position, free safety. However, he suffered a serious injury to his Achilles tendon during practice. This injury meant he couldn't play for the Eagles. He was later released from the team in 2011.

Life After Football

After his football career, Marlin Jackson stayed involved in sports. He joined a local news station in Indianapolis, WISH-TV. There, he worked as an analyst, sharing his thoughts and insights on Colts news.
