Marques Barrett Houston (born August 4, 1981) is an American singer, songwriter, dancer, and actor. He is famous for his R&B music and for acting. Marques was part of the R&B group Immature/IMx from 1990 to 2002. After that, he started his solo music career in 2003. Many people know him best for his role as Roger Evans in the TV show Sister, Sister.

Early Life and Beginnings
Marques Houston was born in Los Angeles, California, on August 4, 1981. His parents are Michael and Carolyn Houston. He is also the older cousin of J-Boog from the music group B2K. Marques started acting when he was very young.
Music Career Journey
Starting in Music
In 1992, Marques became a founding member of the R&B group Immature. The group included Jerome "Romeo" Jones and Don "Half Pint" Santos. Their manager was Chris Stokes. Marques was known as "Batman" in the group. In 1999, the group changed its name to IMx. They released two albums under this new name: Introducing IMx (1999) and IMx (2001).
The group also tried acting. They appeared on TV shows like A Different World and Sister, Sister. They also recorded songs for movie soundtracks, such as House Party 3. The group stopped making music together in 2002.
Solo Albums and Hits
Marques Houston released his third solo album, Veteran, in 2007. This album had popular songs like "Like This" and "Favorite Girl". Veteran was very successful. It reached number 5 on the Billboard 200 chart. It also became his first number-one album on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
His fourth album, Mr. Houston, came out in 2009. It included singles such as "I Love Her" and "Sunset". In 2010, Marques released his fifth album, Mattress Music. This album featured songs like "Kickin' & Screamin'".
Later Music and Reunions
In 2012, Marques announced his album Famous. He released a song called "Speechless" for fans to enjoy. The first official single from the album was "Give Your Love a Try".
After Famous, Marques reunited with his IMx bandmates for some tours. They even changed their name back to Immature. In 2014, they released a new song called "Let Me Find Out". Their comeback music collection, Remember, came out in 2015.
Marques continued to release solo music. In 2016, he shared a new song called "Complete Me". He also recorded new songs for the film 'Til Death Do Us Part in 2017. His song "Together" was a single from that movie's soundtrack. After a break, Marques released a new album titled Me in 2022. He followed it up with an EP called Me: Dark Water later that year.
Acting Career Highlights
Marques Houston started his acting career in 1992. He voiced the character Khalil in the animated movie Bebe's Kids. He also appeared in House Party 3 (1994). In that film, he played a younger version of himself with his Immature bandmates. They were shown as cousins who wanted to be musicians.
Breakthrough Role in Sister, Sister
Marques became very well-known for his role as Roger Evans. He played the next-door neighbor on the TV comedy show Sister, Sister. He acted alongside twin sisters Tia and Tamera Campbell (Tia and Tamera Mowry). Marques was on the show for five of its six seasons. His character left the show in the fifth season but returned for the final episode.
Movies and TV Shows
In 1997, Marques had a small role in the movie "Good Burger". This film was based on a sketch from the Nickelodeon show "All That". He played Jake, a friend of the main character.
Marques also starred in the 2004 dance film You Got Served. He played the character Elgin Barrett Eugene Smith III. After that, he played Dumb Donald in the movie Fat Albert. This film was based on Bill Cosby's famous cartoon series.
From 2005 to 2006, Marques had his own TV series called Cuts. He played the main character, Kevin Barnes. This show was a spin-off from another series called One on One.
In 2007, Marques starred in the horror film Somebody Help Me. He also appeared in its sequel, Somebody Help Me 2, in 2010. In 2012, he starred in a hip-hop dance movie for kids called Battlefield America. He played Sean Lewis, a dance teacher.
Marques reunited with his Sister, Sister co-star Tamera Mowry on the talk show The Real in 2015. He also appeared with Tia Mowry in 2017. In 2019, he briefly appeared on Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood with his IMx bandmates.
Film Producing Career
Marques Houston started working behind the scenes in filmmaking in 2010. He teamed up with his longtime music manager, Chris Stokes. Chris Stokes directed most of the films Marques wrote and produced.
Marques is now the CEO of a film production company called Footage Films. His fellow IMx bandmate Young Rome (Jerome Jones) is the president. Marques helps write and produce many films. Most of these films are made for TV. He often works with the same actors in different movies.
His first full writing and executive producer credit was for the 2015 film Will to Love. He also produced a thriller movie called Running Out of Time in 2018. Marques has written and produced over ten films. This includes 'Til Death Do Us Part, which was released in theaters in 2017. In 2022, he produced, wrote, and starred in a thriller film called "The Stepmother". A sequel was announced later that year.
Personal Life
Marques Houston's mother passed away in 1997. In 2016, he became one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Marques Houston married Miya Dickey on August 24, 2020, in Corona, California. They have two children together.
