The Story of Good Burger
The movie starts on the first day of summer vacation. Dexter Reed, a high school student, takes his mom's car for a joyride. But then, he crashes into his teacher, Mr. Wheat's car! Dexter doesn't have a driver's license or insurance. This means he's in big trouble.
Luckily, Mr. Wheat agrees not to call the police. Instead, Dexter has to pay for the car damage. The repairs will cost $1,900. So, Dexter has to get a summer job. He tries working at a new place called Mondo Burger. But he quickly gets fired by the boss, Kurt Bozwell.
Feeling down, Dexter goes to Good Burger for a milkshake. There, he meets Ed, a friendly but a bit clumsy cashier. Ed helps Dexter get a job at Good Burger. Dexter soon learns that Ed was actually the one who caused his car accident! Ed was roller-blading in front of Dexter, making him swerve and crash.
Mondo Burger's Challenge
Good Burger is a small, old-fashioned restaurant. Its future looks bad when Mondo Burger opens. Mondo Burger is a huge, modern burger chain. They serve giant burgers that are very popular.
But then, Ed saves Good Burger! He creates a super secret sauce. This sauce makes Good Burger's sales skyrocket. Dexter realizes how important Ed's sauce is. He also remembers that Ed caused his car accident. Dexter decides to take advantage of Ed's kindness. He gets Ed to sign a contract. This contract says Dexter gets 80% of the money from Ed's sauce. Dexter tells Ed to keep the sauce recipe a secret. He warns Ed not to tell anyone, especially Mondo Burger.
Kurt's Plan
Ed's sauce makes Good Burger famous. This makes Kurt, the owner of Mondo Burger, very angry. He wants Ed's secret sauce for himself. First, Kurt tries to get Ed to work for Mondo Burger. He offers Ed more money, but Ed says no.
Then, Kurt sends a pretty employee named Roxanne. Her job is to get the sauce recipe from Ed. But Ed is so clumsy that Roxanne keeps getting hurt! She eventually gives up and quits her job.
Discovering the Secret
The next day, the Good Burger employees find Dexter's contract with Ed. They realize Dexter was trying to cheat Ed. Monique, one of the employees, is especially upset. Dexter feels bad and goes to apologize to Ed.
While they are talking, a hungry dog comes by. The dog sniffs a Mondo Burger but doesn't want it. Then, it happily eats a discarded Good Burger. This makes Ed and Dexter suspicious. They decide to investigate Mondo Burger.
They sneak into Mondo Burger's kitchen. There, they discover that Mondo Burger's burgers are not normal. They are made with a secret ingredient called Triampathol. This ingredient is not allowed in food. Kurt finds them and sends them to a place called Demented Hills. This is a special place where people who are confused are sent. Kurt wants to stop them from telling anyone his secret.
Saving Good Burger
Meanwhile, Kurt and his helpers break into Good Burger. They find Ed's secret sauce. They start putting something bad, like poison, into it. Otis, an older employee who was sleeping there, sees them. Kurt sends Otis to Demented Hills too.
Otis tells Ed and Dexter about Kurt's plan. They escape from Demented Hills. They take an ice cream truck and race back to Good Burger. They arrive just in time! They stop anyone from eating the poisoned sauce.
Ed and Dexter then go back to Mondo Burger. They want to show the police what Kurt is doing. Dexter creates a distraction. Ed tries to grab a can of Triampathol. He accidentally knocks one into the meat grinder. Then, he gets an idea and pours another can into the grinder.
Kurt corners Dexter on the roof. Ed suddenly appears with an empty can. Kurt makes fun of Ed, thinking he's foolish. But Ed tells Dexter that the can wasn't empty when he found it! Suddenly, the Mondo Burger restaurant goes wild. The burgers start exploding because of too much Triampathol! A giant fake burger falls from the roof. It lands right on Mr. Wheat's newly fixed car.
The Aftermath
After all the chaos, Mondo Burger is shut down. Kurt is arrested for using the illegal Triampathol. He is also arrested for trying to poison Good Burger's sauce. Dexter tears up the contract with Ed. He tells Ed that he gets to keep all the money from his amazing sauce.
Ed and Dexter go back to Good Burger. Their friends and coworkers welcome them as heroes. They saved the restaurant!
