Kel Johari Rice Mitchell (born August 25, 1978) is a super talented American actor, comedian, rapper, singer, and TV host. You might know him best from his funny roles on Nickelodeon shows! He was one of the first cast members on the popular sketch comedy show All That from 1994 to 1999. On All That, he often teamed up with his friend Kenan Thompson.
Kel also played the hilarious character Ed in the movie Good Burger, which was based on one of his sketches from All That. He and Kenan Thompson then starred together in their own Nickelodeon sitcom, Kenan & Kel, from 1996 to 2000. Kel even received two special awards nominations for his voice work as "T-Bone" in the cartoon series Clifford the Big Red Dog (2000–2003). Later, from 2015 to 2019, he starred as Double G on the Nickelodeon show Game Shakers.

Kel's Early Life
Kel Mitchell was born on August 25, 1978, in Chicago, Illinois. He grew up on the South Side of Chicago. When he was younger, he went to Chicago Vocational High School and took drama classes at a place called the ETA Creative Arts Foundation. He has two sisters named Kenyatta and Kyra.
Kel's Career Journey

Kel Mitchell started his acting adventure when he was just 15 years old! He joined his friend Kenan Thompson on the Nickelodeon comedy show All That, which ran from 1994 to 1999. Their funny skits on All That were a big hit.
After All That, Kel and Kenan got their own show called Kenan & Kel, which aired from 1996 to 2000. They also starred in the 1997 movie Good Burger, which was super popular and came from one of Kel's characters on All That. The duo even appeared together in episodes of other shows like Sister, Sister, The Steve Harvey Show, Cousin Skeeter, and Sabrina, the Teenage Witch.
Besides working with Kenan, Kel also used his voice for the friendly dog T-Bone in the children's cartoon series Clifford the Big Red Dog from 2000 to 2003. He also appeared in a music video for Kanye West called "All Falls Down" in 2004.
From 2015 to 2019, Kel was a main cast member on the Nickelodeon sitcom Game Shakers. He played Double G, a famous rap superstar who was also a business partner in the Game Shakers company.
In 2015, Kel made a special appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in a skit where he played Ed from Good Burger again! It was a fun surprise for fans. He also reunited with Kenan Thompson on an episode of the game show Double Dare in 2018. They even became executive producers for the new version of All That, which started in 2019, and Kel returned as a recurring cast member.
Kel hosted a TV series called Tails of Valor, which shared amazing true stories about service animals and how they help people. In 2019, Kel also showed off his dance moves as a contestant on Dancing with the Stars, where he finished in second place! Since 2020, he has been a panelist on MTV's show Deliciousness.
In 2022, Kel released a book called Blessed Mode: 90 Days to Level Up Your Faith. He also released a song with the same name. Later that year, he released a children's book called Prank Day.
Kel and Kenan Thompson teamed up again on Saturday Night Live in December 2022 for a funny sketch. In April 2025, Kel starred as Moonface Martin in a theater production of Anything Goes in Rochester, New York.
Kel's Personal Life
Kel Mitchell was married to Tyisha Hampton from 1999 to 2005. They have two children together, a son and a daughter. Even though his character Kel on Kenan & Kel loved orange soda, Kel himself has said he doesn't drink carbonated drinks!
Kel married rapper Asia Lee on February 25, 2012. They have two children together, a daughter born in 2017 and a son born in 2020.
In 2016, Kel and Asia received an award from the Carson Black Chamber for their show The Back House Party. Kel is also a spokesperson for the Black College Expo, which helps students learn about colleges.
Kel is a Christian, and in December 2019, he became a youth pastor at Spirit Food Christian Center in Winnetka, Los Angeles.
