Robert Wuhl (born October 9, 1951) is an American actor, comedian, and writer. He is famous for creating and starring in the TV show Arliss. He also played Alexander Knox, a newspaper reporter, in Tim Burton's movie Batman (1989). You might also know him as Larry from the film Bull Durham (1988).

Early life and education
Robert Wuhl was born in Union, New Jersey. His family was Jewish. His father worked as a person who sells fruits and vegetables.
After attending Union High School, Wuhl went to the University of Houston. There, he was very active in the drama department. He also joined the Epsilon-Omicron chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. In April 2012, his university gave him a special award. This award was for being a distinguished former student.
Acting and writing career
Robert Wuhl started his movie career in 1980. His first main role was in the comedy The Hollywood Knights. He acted alongside other new stars like Tony Danza and Michelle Pfeiffer. Later, he had a small part in the movie Flashdance (1983).
He then got bigger roles in many films. These included Good Morning, Vietnam (1987) with Robin Williams. He was also in Bull Durham (1988) with Kevin Costner. In Tim Burton's 1989 Batman, he played reporter Alexander Knox. Other movies include Blaze (1989) with Paul Newman. He also appeared in Blue Chips (1994) and Cobb (1994).
Wuhl also worked as a writer. He wrote two episodes for the TV series Police Squad! in 1982. He even recorded a special audio comment for its DVD release in 2006.
In 1985, he was in the music video for Madonna's song "Material Girl". In 1992, he played the host of the Oscars in the movie The Bodyguard.
Awards and TV shows
Robert Wuhl won two Emmy Awards. These awards were for helping to write the Academy Awards shows in 1990 and 1991. He worked with famous people like Billy Crystal on these shows.
From 1996 to 2002, he created and starred in the HBO series Arliss. In this show, he played Arliss Michaels, who was an agent for famous athletes.
He also appeared on the ESPN game show 2 Minute Drill. From 2000 to 2001, he was often a panelist. He would ask contestants questions about sports movies.
In 2006, Wuhl had a special one-man show on HBO. It was called Assume the Position with Mr. Wuhl. In this show, he pretended to teach a history class. He showed how history and pop culture are made. A second part, Assume the Position 201 with Mr. Wuhl, aired in 2007.
Wuhl has also acted in plays. He played "Herb Tucker" in a new version of Neil Simon's play I Ought to Be in Pictures. In 2017, he was in another Simon play, The Sunshine Boys.
You might have seen him playing himself in the animated show American Dad!. He has appeared in several episodes of this popular series.
