Mary Martha Byrne (born December 23, 1969) is an American actress. She is well-known for playing the character Lily Walsh Snyder on the TV show As the World Turns. She was on the show from 1985 to 1989, and then again from 1993 to 2008. She also played Lily's twin sister, Rose D'Angelo, from 2000 to 2003.
Martha Byrne has acted in many other TV shows, movies, and stage plays. She was the main character in the 1983 film Anna to the Infinite Power. Since 2011, she has been an executive producer and actress for the digital drama series Anacostia, where she plays Alexis Jordan. Martha Byrne has won three Daytime Emmy Awards for her acting.

Martha Byrne began her acting journey on Broadway. She joined the cast of the famous musical Annie. In this show, she played the role of July.

Martha Byrne is most famous for her role as Lily Walsh Snyder on the CBS Daytime soap opera As the World Turns. She joined the show in May 1985 when she was 15 years old.
Becoming a Fan Favorite
Martha quickly became part of a popular "supercouple" on the show. Her character, Lily, was a "poor little rich girl" who fell in love with a farmhand named Holden Snyder, played by Jon Hensley. Their love story was very popular with viewers.
In 1987, Martha Byrne won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actress. She left As the World Turns in 1989 but returned in April 1993.
Playing Two Roles
From 2000 to 2003, Martha Byrne played a second character on the show. She took on the role of Rose D'Angelo, who was Lily's long-lost twin sister. In 2001, she won another Daytime Emmy, this time for Outstanding Lead Actress.
Martha Byrne left As the World Turns again in April 2008. Another actress, Noelle Beck, then played the role of Lily until the show ended in 2010.

In 2009, Martha Byrne worked as a script writer for The Bold and the Beautiful. She also appeared on the ABC soap opera General Hospital. From June to September 2009, she played the character Andrea Floyd.
Since 2011, Martha Byrne has been playing Alexis Jordan on the web series Anacostia. She won an Indie Series Award in 2012 for her guest appearance. In 2015, she won another Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Performer in a New Approaches Drama Series for her work on Anacostia. The entire cast also won an Indie Series Award for Best Ensemble in 2015.
Martha Byrne also became a co-executive producer, director, and writer for Anacostia from 2012 to 2016. She was promoted to Executive Producer in the show's fifth season in 2017.
Music Career
Martha Byrne is also a talented singer. In 1994, she contributed a Christmas song medley to an album called A Soap Opera Christmas.
In 1996, she released her first album, titled Martha Byrne. She later released a second album called Woman Thing Music. In 2006, Martha Byrne released her third album, The Other Side.

Martha Byrne married Michael McMahon on November 12, 1994. Michael was a former police officer. Martha grew up in Waldwick, New Jersey, and now lives in nearby Ridgewood.
Martha and Michael have three children. Their first son, Michael Terrence McMahon, was born on May 29, 1998. Their second son, Maxwell Vincent McMahon, was born on September 3, 2002. Their third child and first daughter, Annmarie, was born on June 12, 2006.
