Martijn Wydaeghe (born September 1, 1992) is a Belgian rallying co-driver. He is the co-driver for Thierry Neuville at Hyundai Motorsport in the exciting World Rally Championship (WRC). A co-driver is like a super-smart navigator in a rally car. They read special notes, called pace notes, to the driver. These notes describe the road ahead, including turns, bumps, and other important details. This helps the driver go as fast as possible while staying safe on challenging rally stages. Martijn and Thierry became World Rally Champions in 2024, which is a huge achievement in the sport!
Martijn Wydaeghe's Rally Journey
Martijn Wydaeghe started his World Rally Championship (WRC) journey in 2013. His very first WRC race was the Rallye de France-Alsace. In that race, he was the co-driver for Philip Cracco.
Since 2021, Martijn has been the co-driver for the talented Belgian driver, Thierry Neuville. Before teaming up with Thierry, Martijn worked with another Belgian co-driver, Nicolas Gilsoul, until 2020. Their partnership has been very successful, leading to many victories and their big championship win in 2024.
