Martin is a suburb located in Perth, Western Australia. It is part of the City of Gosnells. The area was officially named in 1974. It got its name from a pioneer family in the Gosnells district. A special person from this family was Edward Victor Martin. He served on the local council for 37 years, helping to make important decisions for the community.
Fun Facts About Martin
Martin was once home to a very popular place called Cohuna Koala Park. This park was a big tourist attraction. The Sorbello family owned and ran it at 322 Mills Road East.
Many famous people visited Cohuna Koala Park. These visitors included Sir David Attenborough, who is known for his nature documentaries. Other stars like Dolly Parton and Michael Jackson also came to see the animals. Even Colonel Harland Sanders, the founder of KFC, visited the park!
Today, the site where Cohuna Koala Park used to be is now the Kaarakin Black Cockatoo Conservation Centre. This center works to protect black cockatoos.
