Lambert released her first collection of songs, called an extended play (EP), on July 17, 2012. It was titled Letters Don't Talk. The very next day, the song "Same Love" was released. This song was from Macklemore and Ryan Lewis' album The Heist. Mary Lambert sang on the song and helped to write it. "Same Love" became a very popular song. It reached the number one spot in Australia and New Zealand.
In January 2013, Mary Lambert also published her first book. It was a book of poetry called 500 tips for fat girls. In May 2013, she performed "Same Love" on a TV show called The Colbert Report.
Lambert released a music video for her song "She Keeps Me Warm" in August 2013. Her second extended play, Welcome to the Age of My Body, came out on December 17, 2013.
