Masato Nakamura (中村 正人, Nakamura Masato, born October 1, 1958) is a Japanese musician. He is famous for playing the bass guitar and producing music. Masato Nakamura is a key member of the popular J-pop band Dreams Come True. This band started in 1988 and has sold over 50 million CDs! He also created the music for the classic video games Sonic the Hedgehog (1991) and Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (1992).

Music Career

Before forming his famous band, Masato Nakamura worked as a musician who played for other artists. This is called a session musician. In 1988, he teamed up with Miwa Yoshida to create the band Dreams Come True. Later, keyboardist Takahiro Nishikawa joined them.

In July 2002, Masato Nakamura and Miwa Yoshida started their own record company called "DCT Records." They now help manage the company and its artists. Masato Nakamura writes many of the songs for Dreams Come True. He also arranges almost all of their music. This means he decides how the different instruments will play together.

In early 1990, the video game company Sega chose Masato Nakamura to create the music for their new game. This game was the very first Sonic the Hedgehog. On November 7, 1990, the game was first shown to the public in a unique way. It was painted on the side of Dreams Come True's tour bus!

While working on the first Sonic the Hedgehog game, Masato Nakamura was also busy recording his band's fourth album, Million Kisses. He also worked on the music for Sonic the Hedgehog 2 while recording their fifth album, The Swinging Star.

In 2006, Masato Nakamura helped with the Sonic the Hedgehog game released that year. He contributed a new version of the ending song from Sonic the Hedgehog 2, which is called "Sweet Sweet Sweet."

More recently, in 2022, Masato Nakamura lent his voice to a character. He voiced the Siberian champion in the Japanese version of the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie.
