Masato Nakamura (中村 正人, born October 1, 1958) is a famous Japanese musician. He plays the bass guitar and also produces music. He is a key member of the popular J-pop band Dreams Come True. This band started in 1988 and has sold over 50 million CDs worldwide.
Masato Nakamura also created the music for some very well-known video games. He composed the soundtracks for the original Sonic the Hedgehog (1991) and Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (1992).

Masato Nakamura's Music Career
Before forming his famous band, Masato Nakamura worked as a session musician. This means he played music for other artists in recording studios. In 1988, he teamed up with Miwa Yoshida and keyboardist Takahiro Nishikawa. Together, they formed the band Dreams Come True.
Nakamura writes most of the songs for Dreams Come True. He also arranges almost all of their music. In 2002, he and Miwa Yoshida started their own record company called "DCT Records." They now work as executive producers, helping to guide other artists.
Composing for Sonic the Hedgehog
In early 1990, the video game company Sega chose Masato Nakamura to create the music for their new game, Sonic the Hedgehog. This was a big deal for a musician!
Later that year, on November 7, the game was first shown to the public in a very unique way. It was painted on the side of Dreams Come True's tour bus! While working on the Sonic the Hedgehog soundtrack, Nakamura was also busy recording his band's fourth album, Million Kisses.
He also composed the music for the sequel, Sonic the Hedgehog 2. At the same time, he was recording Dreams Come True's fifth album, The Swinging Star.
In 2006, Nakamura contributed a special remixed song for the game Sonic the Hedgehog. It was a new version of "Sweet Sweet Sweet," which was the ending theme from Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
In 2022, Masato Nakamura even lent his voice to the Japanese version of the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie. He voiced the character known as the Siberian champion.
Other Music Projects
Besides his work with Dreams Come True and the Sonic games, Masato Nakamura has also composed music for many television commercials. His music has been heard in various advertisements, showing his versatility as a composer.
