Matthew Olawale Olosunde (born March 7, 1998) is an American professional soccer player. He plays as a right-back for Cymru Premier club The New Saints.

Club Career Highlights
Matthew Olosunde started his soccer journey in the United States. He has played for several clubs, including famous ones, and has also represented his country.
Early Days: New York Red Bulls
Matthew was born in Philadelphia and grew up in Trenton, New Jersey. He began playing soccer at the New York Red Bulls Academy. He started as a right-winger and played for the club's under-16 and under-18 teams.
In 2014, he even played for the New York Red Bulls Reserves team. After playing in the 2015 FIFA Under-17 World Cup, Matthew left the Red Bulls. He wanted to focus on his education at Duke University.
Playing in England: Manchester United
In 2016, Matthew made a big move to England. He joined Premier League club Manchester United. This is one of the most famous soccer clubs in the world!
Manchester United even offered him online courses from the University of Oxford. This helped convince him to join their team. He officially joined the club in March 2016.
Matthew first played for the Under-18 team. Then, he moved up to the Under-23 team for the 2016–17 season. He played 18 games in the Premier League 2, which is a league for young players.
In April 2017, one of Matthew's goals was nominated for Manchester United's Goal of the Month Award. He even traveled with the main team for some important games. Matthew left Manchester United in June 2019.
Rotherham United and First Goal
On July 5, 2019, Matthew signed a two-year contract with Rotherham United. This is where he scored his very first professional goal! It happened during an FA Cup game against Everton on January 9, 2021. He decided to leave Rotherham United in June 2021.
Preston North End and Injuries
Matthew then joined Preston North End on June 30, 2021. He signed a two-year deal with them. Unfortunately, during his first year, he faced some challenges. He had injuries to his Achilles tendon and Groin. Because of these injuries, he only played in two games that season.
Current Club: The New Saints
On February 16, 2024, Matthew signed a one-year deal with Cymru Premier club The New Saints. This is his current team.
International Soccer Career
Matthew has proudly played for the United States at different youth levels.
Youth National Teams
He played 22 matches for the United States under-17 team. He was part of the team that went to the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile. He played in one game during that tournament.
Because his family comes from Nigeria, Matthew could also choose to play for the Nigerian national team.
Senior National Team Debut
Matthew made his first appearance for the United States senior team on May 28, 2018. He came into the game as a substitute against Bolivia.
