Mattie Larson (born May 20, 1992) is an American former artistic gymnast. She competed at the highest level of gymnastics from 2008 to 2010. Mattie was the U.S. national champion for floor exercise in 2010. That same year, she won a silver medal with the U.S. team at the World Championships. After her elite career, Mattie competed for UCLA from 2012 to 2014.

Junior Gymnastics Career
Starting Out in 2006
Mattie Larson first became a junior international elite gymnast in July 2006. This happened at the U.S. Classic competition. She finished fifth in the all-around event. Mattie was supposed to compete at her first U.S. National Championships. However, an injury kept her from competing.
Success in 2007
Mattie returned to gymnastics in 2007. She placed second in the all-around and first on vault at the WOGA Classic. Later, she finished third in the all-around at the U.S. Classic. This allowed her to compete at the National Championships again.
She did very well and earned a spot on the national team. Mattie then competed at the Junior Pan American Championships. This was her first international competition. There, she won gold medals in the all-around and on the floor exercise. She was even named the USOC Female Athlete of the Month for November.
Senior Gymnastics Career
Beginning Senior Level in 2008
Mattie Larson started her senior gymnastics career in 2008. She placed second on the balance beam and first on floor at the WOGA Classic. At the Gymnix International competition, she won a silver medal in the all-around. She also earned a bronze medal on the uneven bars.
Mattie was chosen for the Grand Prix Team in Italy. But a foot injury stopped her from competing. During the Friendship International Exchange, she finished fourth in the all-around. She also won a silver medal on floor, just behind her teammate Alicia Sacramone. At her first Senior Nationals, she placed seventh in the all-around. This helped her make the national team and qualify for the Olympic Trials. After the trials, she joined the Olympic training squad. However, a leg injury meant she could not make the final Olympic team.
Challenges in 2009
Mattie began her 2009 season at the Gymnix World Cup. She won gold medals on both the balance beam and floor. She was also part of the European Tour team. She didn't compete in the all-around, but she helped her team win against Germany and France.
Unfortunately, Mattie hurt both her ankles shortly before the 2009 U.S. National Championships. Because of this, she couldn't compete. She also didn't recover in time to try for the 2009 World Championships.
Comeback in 2010
Mattie Larson made a strong return in 2010. She won the all-around title at the CoverGirl Classic in July. One month later, she earned three medals at the 2010 U.S. National Championships. She won gold on floor, silver in the all-around, and bronze on uneven bars. After these great results, she was chosen for the U.S. team. This team competed at the World Championships in Rotterdam.
College Gymnastics Career
In 2009, Mattie Larson decided to attend the UCLA. She competed for the UCLA Bruins gymnastics team from 2012 through 2014. After her college career, she retired from gymnastics.

Mattie Larson was born in Los Angeles. Her parents, Eric Larson and Gail Boggs, are both actors.
