Maud is a small, unincorporated community located in Stevens County, in the U.S. state of Washington. An unincorporated community means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town does. It's part of the larger county.
History of Maud
Maud has a short but interesting history. A post office was opened here in 1904. This was a very important place for people to send and receive letters and packages. The post office stayed open for about 10 years, closing in 1914. The community got its name from a young girl named Maud Morgan. She was the child of one of the first families to settle in the area.
