Setters became known as a tough and strong player. His fighting spirit made him a key part of the team. In the 1962–63 season, Manchester United almost got relegated. But they had a great win in the 1963 FA Cup Final. They beat Leicester City 3–1 to win the cup.
The next season, 1963–64, was much better. Manchester United finished second in the league. Maurice played his 159th and final game for Manchester United in the 1964–65 season. He then moved to Stoke City for £30,000.
