Maxime Crépeau's Club Journey
Starting with Montreal Impact
Maxime Crépeau joined the Montreal Impact Academy in 2010. He played for their U21 team for three seasons. In 2013, he signed a professional contract with the Montreal Impact. He became one of their "Homegrown Players."
In 2015, Crépeau trained with a German club, Fortuna Düsseldorf. He then became a backup goalkeeper for the Impact. He was on the bench for the 2015 CONCACAF Champions League Finals.
Playing for FC Montreal
After that, Crépeau was loaned to FC Montreal. This was the Impact's team in the USL. He made his first professional appearance on May 2, 2015. He played two seasons with FC Montreal. The team stopped playing after the 2016 season.
In 2017, Crépeau became the second-choice goalkeeper for the Montreal Impact. He made his first team debut in May 2017. This was during a game against Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
Loan to Ottawa Fury
In 2018, Crépeau wanted to play more games. So, he was loaned to Ottawa Fury in the USL. He had an amazing season there. He did not let in any goals in six straight games. This earned him the USL Player of the Month award for May 2018.
Crépeau felt his time with Ottawa Fury helped him improve a lot. He set a new USL record that season. He had 15 "shutouts," meaning he kept the other team from scoring. This was the most shutouts in a single season. He was named to the USL's All-League First Team. He also won the USL Goalkeeper of the Year award.
Moving to Vancouver Whitecaps FC
In December 2018, Crépeau joined Vancouver Whitecaps FC. He made his first game for them on March 2, 2019. He quickly became the main goalkeeper for the Whitecaps.
In 2020, he broke his thumb during a tournament. This made him miss many games. Despite this, he was named the Whitecaps' Player of the Year in both 2019 and 2021. By early 2022, he had played in 63 games for the Whitecaps.
Time with Los Angeles FC
On January 20, 2022, Crépeau was traded to Los Angeles FC. He said this was the hardest decision he had made in his career. He joined other goalkeepers at LAFC.
He played his first game for Los Angeles FC on February 26. They won 3-0, and he kept a "clean sheet" (no goals scored against him). Crépeau played almost every game for LAFC in 2022.
During the 2022 MLS Cup final, he got a serious leg injury. This happened while he was trying to stop a goal. Even though he was injured, Los Angeles FC won the game on penalties.
Crépeau returned to playing on July 23, 2023. He played for Los Angeles FC 2, which is a team in a lower league. He was the captain and helped them win 2-1.
Joining Portland Timbers
Crépeau moved to the Portland Timbers on January 17, 2024. He played his first game for them on March 2, 2024, against D.C. United. He continues to play as their goalkeeper.

In the 2021 Gold Cup, he was the main goalkeeper for Canada. He played in all their games. Canada reached the semifinals, which was their best performance since 2007.
Crépeau was a regular player during the qualifying games for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. However, in November 2022, he broke his leg during the MLS Cup Final. This injury meant he could not play in the World Cup.
