Maximiliano de Austria (born November 13, 1555 – died July 1, 1614) was an important leader in the Catholic Church in Spain. He served as an Archbishop in Santiago de Compostela from 1603 to 1614. Before that, he was a Bishop in Segovia and Cádiz.

Life and Church Career
Maximiliano de Austria was born in Jaén, Spain, in 1555. His father was Leopoldo de Austria, who was a Bishop of Córdoba. His grandfather was Maximilian I, Holy Roman Emperor.
Becoming a Bishop
Maximiliano began his important church roles in 1596. On September 23, 1596, he was chosen to be the Bishop of Cádiz. This appointment happened during the time of Pope Clement VIII.
A few months later, on February 16, 1597, he officially became a bishop. He was consecrated by Bernardo Sandoval Rojas, who was the Bishop of Jaén.
Moving to Segovia
After serving in Cádiz, Maximiliano was given a new role. On August 27, 1601, Pope Clement VIII appointed him as the Bishop of Segovia. He served in this position for about two years.
Archbishop of Santiago de Compostela
Maximiliano de Austria continued to rise in the church. On April 21, 1603, Pope Clement VIII chose him for an even higher position. He became the Archbishop of Santiago de Compostela. This was a very important role in the Catholic Church in Spain.
He continued to serve as the Archbishop of Santiago de Compostela until his death. Maximiliano de Austria passed away on July 1, 1614, at the age of 58.
