McAllister is a small place in Wisconsin, United States. It's called an "unincorporated community" because it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. It's part of the larger area known as the town of Wagner, in Marinette County.

Where is McAllister Located?
McAllister is found where two roads meet: Wisconsin Highway 180 and County Highway JJ. It is about 11.5 miles (18.5 km) east-southeast of Wausaukee. The area is about 692 feet (211 m) above sea level.
You can reach McAllister by road from several directions. To the west is Wausaukee. To the north is Packard. To the south is Wagner. To the east, you can cross a bridge over the Menominee River to reach Wallace, Michigan. In McAllister, you will find a Lutheran church. The town hall for Wagner and the Tabor Lutheran Cemetery are also nearby to the east.
A Look at McAllister's Past
McAllister used to be an important stop on a railway line. This line, called the Wisconsin & Michigan (W. & M.) Railway, ran from Bagley Junction to Iron Mountain. Trains would stop here between Wagner and Packard.
When the Trains Stopped Running
The railway through McAllister closed down in 1938. The tracks were removed, and the trains were sold. This changed how people and goods traveled in the area.
The Old Post Office
A post office opened in McAllister in 1895. It helped people send and receive letters and packages. The first postmaster was Segal Haulotte, who worked there for 26 years. He also ran a general store, which sold many different things. The post office closed in 1966.
The Cheese Factory
In the 1920s, Mike Pissato ran a cheese factory in McAllister. This factory made cheese from milk. Theodore Phillips bought the factory in 1929.
Villa Alvernia Summer Camp
In 1946, a group called the Franciscan Friars bought some land by the river in McAllister. They were from the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Province in Pulaski. They turned the property into a summer camp and a quiet place for retreats. They named it Villa Alvernia.
