McConnell is a small community in Logan County, West Virginia, in the United States. It is located right next to the Guyandotte River. In 2010, about 514 people lived there. McConnell was started in 1933.
The community got its name from a man named Mr. McConnell. He was involved in building railroads in the area.
Where is McConnell?
McConnell is in the middle part of Logan County. It sits on the east side of the Guyandotte River. This river flows north and eventually joins the Ohio River.
The community of McConnell is next to Stollings to the north.
Main Roads in McConnell
The main road through McConnell is called Hanging Rock Highway. This road used to be part of West Virginia Route 10.
You can travel about 3 miles (5 km) northwest along this road to reach Logan. Logan is the main town, or county seat, for Logan County. If you go about 10 miles (16 km) southeast, you will get to Man.
Today, WV-10 is a bigger, four-lane highway. It runs on the west side of the river. You can get to it about 2 miles (3 km) southeast or northwest of McConnell.
