How It All Began
The very first McGrath's Fish House opened its doors in 1980. It was started by a person named John McGrath. This first restaurant was in Salem, Oregon. It was a place where people could enjoy fresh seafood.
Growing Across the States
Over time, McGrath's Fish House became very popular. The company grew quite a bit. At its biggest, there were 21 locations! These restaurants were in many different states. You could find them in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Utah, and Arizona.
For example, a restaurant opened in Medford, Oregon, in 1996. Another one started in Vancouver, Washington, in 1999.
Facing Challenges and Changes
Like many businesses, McGrath's Fish House faced some tough times. In 2010, the company had financial difficulties. They had to close some of their restaurants. Locations in Utah, Arizona, and Washington closed down.
More restaurants closed in the following years. This included places in Eugene, Oregon, Corvallis, Oregon, Boise, Idaho, and Bend, Oregon. The original Salem location also closed in 2015. It was changed into a different restaurant, which later closed too. The Medford location closed in 2022.
