The McVeggie is a special kind of veggie burger sold by the popular fast-food restaurant McDonald's. It was first introduced in 2012 in India. This was a big step because it was launched when McDonald's opened its very first restaurant in India that only served vegetarian food!

What's Inside a McVeggie?

The McVeggie burger has a tasty patty (that's the flat, round part in the middle!). This patty is made from a mix of vegetables like peas, corn, carrots, and green beans. It also includes onions, potatoes, and rice, all mixed with spices. The patty is covered in a crispy batter and breadcrumbs.

The burger also comes with egg-free mayonnaise and fresh lettuce. All these ingredients are served inside a toasted bun with sesame seeds on top. This makes the McVeggie a delicious meal for people who prefer vegetarian options.

Where Did the McVeggie Come From?

The McVeggie first appeared in India in 2012. At that time, many people in India were choosing to eat vegetarian food. Because of this, McDonald's decided to open its first restaurant that only served vegetarian meals, and the McVeggie was a key item on the menu.

Since then, the McVeggie has become popular in many other countries around the world. It was introduced in Germany in February 2010, and in Finland and Sweden in 2017. You can also find it in Hong Kong, Belgium, Greece, Malaysia, Portugal (in 2016), Switzerland, and New Zealand (as of December 2019). It even arrived in South Australia in May 2019!
