Mei Finegold is a singer from Israel. Her real name is Meital Slominsky, and she was born on December 16, 1982. She became well-known in 2009 after she came in third place on Kokhav Nolad 7. This TV show is like Israel's version of Pop Idol. Later, Mei Finegold got to represent Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014.

Her Early Life

Mei Finegold was born in 1982 in Rishon LeZion, a city in Israel. She still lives there today. Her journey in music began when she was young. She sang at school events and took singing lessons. She even learned to sing classical songs.

As a child, Mei Finegold often performed in different places, including night clubs and bars. Over time, she became the main singer for a band called Disiac. This band was part of a special music project called Hebrew Labor. For this project, they covered (sang their own versions of) many old Israeli songs.

Becoming a Star on Kokhav Nolad

Mei Finegold's spot on the TV show Kokhav Nolad was clear from her very first tryout. The judges were very impressed with her singing. They didn't give her any criticism at all!

During the show, Mei Finegold stuck to a rock music style. She mostly sang covers of Israeli rock songs from the mid-1980s. She was so good that she won "performance of the week" five times. Two of those wins were in a row! Her strong performances showed everyone her amazing talent.

Representing Israel at Eurovision

In January 2014, it was announced that Mei Finegold had been chosen to represent Israel. She would sing in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014. This big music competition was held in Copenhagen, Denmark, that year.

On March 5, it was shared that her song for Eurovision would be "Same Heart". Mei Finegold sang in the second semi-final of the contest. She finished in 14th place and earned 19 points. Unfortunately, she did not get enough points to move on to the final round of the competition.
