Melipilla Province (Spanish: Provincia de Melipilla) is one of six provinces in the Santiago Metropolitan Region of central Chile. Its main city and capital is Melipilla. This province is an important part of the region, known for its mix of towns and countryside.

How Melipilla Province is Run
Melipilla is a part of Chile's government system. It is managed by a special leader called a provincial delegate. This delegate is chosen by the president of Chile.
The current delegate for Melipilla Province is Sandra Saavedra. She was appointed by President Gabriel Boric. Her job is to help manage the province and make sure things run smoothly for its people.

The province is divided into five smaller areas called comunas (communes). Each commune has its own local government. This government includes an alcalde (mayor) and a group of people called a municipal council.

Melipilla Province covers a large area of 4,065.7 square kilometers (about 1,570 square miles). This makes it the second biggest province in the Santiago Metropolitan Region.
In 2002, a count of the people showed that 141,165 people lived here. This made it the fifth most populated province in its region. About 80,790 people lived in cities or towns (urban areas). The other 60,375 people lived in the countryside (rural areas). There were slightly more men (71,595) than women (69,570) living in the province at that time.
