About Mercedes Erra
Early Life and Education
Mercedes Erra was born in Barcelona, Spain. When she was six years old, her family moved to France. She later studied at a famous business school in Paris called HEC Paris. She finished her studies there in 1981.
Starting Her Career
Mercedes began her career as an intern at an advertising company called Saatchi & Saatchi in 1981. She worked her way up quickly! She became an Advertising Chief, then a Client Manager. After that, she was a Deputy General Manager. By 1990, she became the General Director of Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising. She held this important job until 1995.
Founding BETC
Mercedes is one of the people who started the advertising agency BETC. The "E" in BETC stands for Erra! This agency has become very successful.

Supporting Women and Others
Mercedes Erra is a strong supporter of women leaders. She helped start the Women’s Forum for the Economy and Society. This group helps women in business and society. She also works with UNICEF, which helps children around the world. She supports the ELLE Foundation too.
Mercedes is an active member of the French Committee of Human Rights Watch. This group works to protect human rights globally. She is also a permanent member of a French committee that looks at how women are shown in the media.
Leadership in Advertising
From 2002 to 2004, Mercedes Erra was the chairman of the French Advertising Association. This was a very important role in the advertising world in France. In 2012, she was also asked to join the board of directors for the Art Media Society.
