Michael Brandon (born Michael Feldman on April 20, 1945) is an American actor famous for his roles in television, movies, and on stage. Many people know him as the star of the British TV show Dempsey and Makepeace.
Younger audiences might recognize his voice as the American narrator for the popular children's show Thomas & Friends from 2004 to 2012. He also acted in major theatre productions, including on Broadway in New York and in London's West End.

Early Life and Education
Michael Brandon was born in Brooklyn, New York. When he was nine, his family moved to Valley Stream, New York. After high school, he decided to become an actor.
He studied at the famous American Academy of Dramatic Arts to train for his career. Soon after, he began acting on Broadway, which is home to some of the most important theaters in the United States.

Michael Brandon has had a long and successful career. He has starred in many different types of shows and movies, showing his talent as a versatile actor.
Television Roles
One of Brandon's most famous roles was playing Lieutenant James Dempsey in the British crime-fighting show Dempsey and Makepeace in the mid-1980s. He starred alongside actress Glynis Barber, who he would later marry.
For many children in the United States, Brandon is best known as a voice from the Island of Sodor. From 2004 to 2012, he was the narrator for the American version of Thomas & Friends. He also voiced characters in several Thomas movies, like Hero of the Rails and Misty Island Rescue.

Brandon started his career in the theatre and has returned to it many times. He was in the original Broadway production of Does a Tiger Wear a Necktie? in 1969.
In the early 2000s, he played the main character in the musical Jerry Springer: The Opera in London. The show was very popular and ran for over a year. He also starred in a stage version of the classic musical Singin' in the Rain in 2012.
Personal Life
From 1976 to 1979, Michael Brandon was married to actress Lindsay Wagner.
In 1989, he married actress Glynis Barber. They had starred together in the TV show Dempsey & Makepeace. They have one son and live in the United Kingdom.
