Michael Meeks, born on February 23, 1972, is a former professional basketball player from Canada. He played as a power forward and center. Michael was an important member of the Canadian men's national basketball team. Today, he works for Canada Basketball, helping to develop new talent.

College Basketball Career
Michael Meeks was a tall player, standing 6 feet 10 inches (208 cm) tall. He played college basketball for Canisius College from 1992 to 1996. In his final year, 1996, he helped his team reach the NCAA Tournament. This was a big achievement for Canisius College.
Even though they lost in the first round, Michael had a great college career. He ended up as the second-highest scorer and rebounder in his school's history. Because of his amazing performance, he was added to the Canisius College Hall of Fame in January 2007.
Playing for Team Canada
Michael Meeks also played for the Canadian men's national basketball team. He represented Canada in many important international competitions.
Olympic Games
He played in the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia. Michael was a key player for Canada. He led the team in scoring during the first round. Canada won their group but lost in the quarter-finals. They finished 7th overall in the tournament.
World Championships
Michael also competed in two FIBA World Championships. These are major tournaments where national teams from around the world compete. He played in the 1998 and 2002 championships.
Other International Success
Michael also won medals with Team Canada:

Life After Playing
Michael Meeks was born in Kingston, Jamaica. He moved to Canada when he was young and grew up in Brampton, Ontario. He also has German citizenship, which he got while playing basketball in Germany.
After retiring from playing basketball in 2011, Michael continued to be involved in the sport. In 2015, he started working for Canada Basketball. He became the manager of youth player development. In this role, he helps young Canadian players improve their skills and grow in basketball.
