The Michaud River is a cool river found in the Sudbury District in Northeastern Ontario, Canada. It's part of the huge Great Lakes Basin. This means its waters eventually flow into the Great Lakes. The Michaud River flows into the Onaping River from its left side.
Where the River Flows
The Michaud River starts its journey at a place called Little Michaud Lake. This lake is located in Tyrone Township. From there, the river flows north until it reaches Michaud Lake.
After leaving Michaud Lake from its northwest side, the river continues to flow northwest. It then reaches Shkowona Lake. From Shkowona Lake, the river turns west. It then enters Leinster Township. Finally, the Michaud River reaches its end, or "mouth," where it joins the Onaping River.
The Onaping River is also part of a larger water system. Its waters flow into the Vermilion River. The Vermilion River then joins the Spanish River. Eventually, all these waters make their way to Lake Huron, one of the Great Lakes.
Other Streams Joining the Michaud River
Rivers often have smaller streams that flow into them. These smaller streams are called tributaries. The Michaud River has two main tributaries. Both of these streams join the Michaud River at Shkowona Lake.
