Micheline Presle was a famous French actress. She was born Micheline Nicole Julia Émilienne Chassagne on August 22, 1922, in Paris, France. She sadly passed away on February 21, 2024, at the age of 101. Micheline Presle started acting when she was very young, in 1937. She appeared in over 50 films! She worked in her home country, France, and also in Hollywood, USA. Later in her career, she returned to making French films until 2014. Sometimes, people knew her as Micheline Prelle.

Her Early Life
Micheline Presle was born in Paris, France. From a very young age, she knew she wanted to be an actress. She started taking acting classes when she was just a teenager.
Becoming a Star in France (1937–1950)
Micheline made her first movie when she was only 15 years old. It was called La Fessée in 1937. In 1938, she won an award called the Prix Suzanne Bianchetti. This award was given to the most promising young actress in French movies. She became a big star in Europe with films like Devil in the Flesh (1947). Because of her success, she received offers to act in Hollywood, USA.
Her Time in Hollywood
In 1950, a big movie studio called 20th Century Fox signed Micheline Presle. They changed her last name to Prell. Later, they changed it again to Prelle because a shampoo company had a product called Prell.
Her first Hollywood movie was Under My Skin. She starred alongside John Garfield in this film. The same year, director Fritz Lang chose her to act with Tyrone Power in a war movie called American Guerrilla in the Philippines.
In 1950, Micheline married American actor William Marshall. They had a daughter named Tonie Marshall. William Marshall worked with actor Errol Flynn and his movie company. In 1951, William directed Micheline and Errol Flynn in the film Adventures of Captain Fabian.
Micheline's marriage did not last, and she returned to France. She divorced William Marshall in 1954. Her acting career continued to do very well in French films. In 1957, she even appeared as a guest on the famous American TV show, The Ed Sullivan Show.
In 1959, she acted in an English movie made in the United Kingdom called Blind Date. She returned to Hollywood in 1962 for a role in the Universal Studios film If a Man Answers. In this movie, she played the mother of Sandra Dee. Sandra Dee's husband, singer Bobby Darin, was also in the film. The next year, Micheline acted in another English movie, The Prize, which starred Paul Newman.
Back to French Cinema
After The Prize, Micheline Presle did not make any more English films. She continued to act in many French movies. In 1989, she appeared in a French film called I Want to Go Home. This movie was made in both French and English. For her role, she was nominated for a special award called the César Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.

Her Final Years
Micheline Presle passed away in Nogent-sur-Marne, France, on February 21, 2024. She was 101 years old.
