Michael Charles Brantley Sr. (born June 17, 1961) is a former American professional baseball player. He played as an Outfielder and later became a coach. He was the hitting coach for the Toronto Blue Jays in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 2005 to 2007.

Early Life and School Days
Mickey Brantley grew up in Catskill, New York. He was one of eleven children in his family. He went to Catskill High School. After high school, Brantley attended Columbia-Greene Community College. There, he was a star in soccer, basketball, and baseball. He still holds several school records for his achievements.
After one year, he moved to Coastal Carolina University. In 1983, the Seattle Mariners picked him in the second round of the 1983 Major League Baseball Draft. After playing well for over three years in the minor leagues, he made his big league debut with the Seattle Mariners in 1986.
Baseball Career Highlights
Playing in the Major Leagues
Brantley played as an outfielder and designated hitter for the Seattle Mariners. He played for parts of four seasons, from 1986 to 1989. In 1987, as a rookie, he was one of the best hitters for the Mariners. He had a .302 batting average, 14 home runs, and 54 RBIs in 106 games.
His only full season as a regular player was in 1988. That year, he hit .263 with 15 home runs and 56 RBIs in 149 games. After 1989, he spent time playing for different teams in the minor leagues. He finished his playing career in 1993 with the Yomiuri Giants in Japan.
Coaching and Managing Teams
From 1994 to 2004, Brantley worked as a coach and manager. He worked for minor league teams in the San Francisco Giants and New York Mets organizations. In 2005, he became the first base coach for the Toronto Blue Jays.
Later that season, he became the hitting coach for the Blue Jays. He held this role until near the end of the 2007 season.
Mickey Brantley's Family
Mickey Brantley's son, Michael Brantley, also became a professional baseball player. Michael played as an outfielder for the Houston Astros. He played in the 2019 World Series and the 2021 World Series. Mickey's nephew, Justin Brantley, was a pitcher in the Cleveland Indians organization from 2014 to 2017. He later signed with the New York Mets but was released in 2017.
In the early 1980s, famous boxer Mike Tyson lived with Brantley and his family for a short time.
