Mickey Patel (1941–1994) was a super talented artist from India. He was a cartoonist, which means he drew funny pictures, and an illustrator, who drew pictures for books and magazines. He was also a painter and a designer.

Mickey Patel was born in 1941 in Lahore, which is now in Pakistan. He studied economics at St. Stephen's College, Delhi. Even though he studied economics, he loved art! He only took evening art classes, but he was so good that he soon started drawing cartoons for famous magazines like Shankar's Weekly. He also worked with advertising companies, helping them create cool visuals.

Besides his amazing illustrations, Mickey Patel also worked as a visualizer (someone who plans how things will look) and even made animated films! His artwork was shown in art shows all over the world. He won many awards, including a special prize from UNESCO for his beautiful picture book illustrations. He was nominated for this award three times!

Mickey Patel worked as a freelance artist, which means he worked for many different clients. He drew for popular newspapers and magazines like India Today, Reader's Digest, and Hindustan Times. He also created art for big organizations like Air India, UNICEF, and Oxford University Press. In the 1960s, he even designed funny greeting cards. Some of his cartoons can be found in Penguin Book of Indian Cartoons.

Mickey Patel loved illustrating children's books. He drew pictures for books by famous Indian authors like Ruskin Bond (who wrote Snake Trouble). He also illustrated books by Sigrun Srivastava, including The Ghost Rider of Darbhanga. Mickey Patel even wrote and illustrated his own book called The Story of a Panther, which was published after he passed away. He worked with the National Book Trust to create many wonderful books for kids. Some of his popular titles for them include 1 to 10, The Best Thirteen, Stories From Bapu's Life, and Rupa the Elephant. These books were published in English, Hindi, and many other languages!
