Middle age facts for kids
- For the time in history, see Middle Ages.
Middle age is a part of life between being young and becoming old. It usually starts when someone is around 40 years old and lasts until they are about 65. It's a time when many people feel grown-up and settled.
In many places, people expect those in middle age to have a steady job and a family. They might have more money and influence at work than when they were younger. However, they might also spend more on their children. Sometimes, adults in middle age might feel a bit unsure or confused about their life. This is a normal feeling that many people experience. Also, women and men can have different experiences during this time. This often depends on if they work outside the home or care for their family full-time.
Health Changes in Middle Age
As people reach middle age, their bodies start to show signs of getting older. They might notice more wrinkles on their skin. Their hair might also start to turn grey. People often become a little less fit and might gain some weight.
Women's Health in Middle Age
For middle-aged females, it becomes harder to become pregnant. If they do have a baby, there is a slightly higher chance of some genetic health issues. Women also usually go through a natural change called menopause during middle age. This means they stop having their monthly period. After menopause, women can no longer have children.
