Miesville (pronounced MEEZ-vil) is a small city in Dakota County, Minnesota, United States. It is a friendly community with a rich history. In 2020, about 138 people lived there.

Miesville is well-known for its amateur baseball team, the Miesville Mudhens. They are part of the Town Team Baseball league, which is a popular local tradition.

History of Miesville

Miesville was founded in 1874 by a man named John Mies. The city was named after him. A post office opened in Miesville in 1884, helping the community stay connected. It operated until 1903.

John Mies built an important building in 1874. It served as a saloon, restaurant, and a place for people to stay. Later, in 1888, this building became a grocery store, saloon, and the post office. In the 1980s, it was known as the Kings Restaurant.

The Saint Joseph Catholic Church of Douglas was started in the spring of 1873. The first church building was built in 1907. Sadly, it was hit by lightning on August 27, 1913. The community quickly rebuilt the church, and it was dedicated again on October 15, 1914. Over the years, the church's members have mostly been of Irish and German backgrounds.

Baseball in Miesville

Baseball has been a big part of Miesville's culture since the 1920s. The local team has been called the Miesville Mudhens since 1948. They are a beloved part of the community.
