Miho Fukumoto (福元 美穂, Fukumoto Miho, born October 2, 1983) is a famous Japanese football player. She is a talented goalkeeper. Miho played for the Japan national team from 2002 to 2016. She helped her team win the World Cup and earn a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics.

Club Football Journey
Miho Fukumoto was born in Ibusuki, Japan, on October 2, 1983. After finishing high school, she joined the football club Okayama Yunogo Belle in 2001. She played for this team for many years, until 2016.
During her time with Okayama Yunogo Belle, Miho was recognized as one of the best players. She was chosen for the "Best Eleven" team three times. This award goes to the top players in the league each season. She played in 259 matches for the club, which is a lot of games!
In August 2016, Miho moved to another club called INAC Kobe Leonessa. She played there until 2018. Later, in 2019, she joined Chifure AS Elfen Saitama. Since 2021, she has been playing for Sanfrecce Hiroshima Regina in the WE League.
Playing for Japan: National Team Career
Miho Fukumoto also had a very successful career playing for her country, Japan.
Early National Team Experience
In August 2002, when she was still young, Miho was chosen to play for the Japan U-20 national team. She played in the U-19 World Championship that year. Just two months later, in October 2002, she made her first appearance for the main Japan national team. Her first game was against Vietnam at the 2002 Asian Games.
World Cup and Olympic Success
Miho played in three World Cups for Japan:
The 2011 World Cup was a huge moment for Japan, as they won the championship! Miho was a key part of that winning team. In the 2015 World Cup, Japan reached the final again and finished in second place, earning a silver medal.
She also represented Japan in two Summer Olympics:
At the 2012 London Olympics, the Japanese team won a silver medal, which was another amazing achievement.
Miho Fukumoto played a total of 81 games for the Japan national team before she retired from international football in 2016.
