Michael Devereaux, born on April 10, 1963, is a former American professional baseball player. He was an outfielder in Major League Baseball (MLB). Mike was picked by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 1985 draft. He played his first big league game on September 2, 1987. Besides the Dodgers, Mike also played for the Baltimore Orioles, Chicago White Sox, Atlanta Braves, and Texas Rangers.

Mike Devereaux was born in Casper, Wyoming. He went to Kelly Walsh High School in Casper. After high school, he played college baseball. He played at Mesa Community College and then at Arizona State University. At Arizona State, he earned a degree in Finance.

The Baltimore Orioles got Mike Devereaux from the Dodgers in 1989. This was a trade for another player, Mike Morgan. Mike's best years were from 1989 to 1993. His top season was in 1992 with the Orioles. That year, he played in 159 games. He hit 24 home runs and had 107 RBIs. His batting average was .276, which is very good!
Winning the NLCS MVP
In 1995, Mike Devereaux played for the Atlanta Braves. He won the NLCS Most Valuable Player (MVP) award. In Game One, he hit the game-winning RBI in the 11th inning. This was against the Cincinnati Reds. In Game Four, he hit a three-run home run. The Braves then went on to win the World Series against the Cleveland Indians.
A Controversial Home Run
On July 15, 1989, Mike hit a walk-off home run. This means his home run ended the game, giving the Orioles an 11-9 win. It was against the California Angels. The ball was very close to the foul pole, making the call controversial. The Angels' manager argued about it the next day.

After Playing Baseball
After his playing career, Mike Devereaux became a coach. In 2010, he was a field coach for the Delmarva Shorebirds. This team is a minor league affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. In 2011, he coached for the Frederick Keys, another Orioles minor league team.
From 2012 to 2016, Mike was the hitting coach for the Asheville Tourists. This team is connected to the Colorado Rockies. In 2017, he moved to the Boise Hawks, another Rockies affiliate. For the 2018 season, he was the hitting coach for the Pensacola Blue Wahoos. This team is a Double-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds. In 2019, he coached hitting for the single-A Dayton Dragons, also a Reds team.
As of August 2021, Mike was working at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. He was a coach for hitting, outfield, and base running. In February 2023, he returned to the Orioles as a guest instructor for spring training. Later, on June 30, 2023, he joined MASN. He became a part-time game analyst for Orioles TV broadcasts. He was scheduled to be a broadcaster for two Orioles home series in July and August 2023.
