Michael David Veisor, Sr. (born August 25, 1952) is a Canadian former ice hockey goaltender. A goaltender is the player who tries to stop the puck from going into their team's net. Mike played 139 games in the National Hockey League (NHL), which is the top professional ice hockey league in North America, between 1973 and 1984. People said he was a very quick and flexible goalie, almost like an acrobat on the ice!

Early Life and Starting Hockey

Mike Veisor was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He is Jewish. When he was a young boy, he played in the 1963 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament. This is a famous tournament for young hockey players from all over the world.

In 1972, Mike was chosen by the Chicago Black Hawks in the NHL Amateur Draft. He was the 45th player picked overall that year. He began his professional hockey career with the Black Hawks in 1973. He was the second Jewish goalie to ever play in the NHL.

Playing in the NHL

After playing for the Chicago Black Hawks, Mike also played for two other NHL teams: the Hartford Whalers and the Winnipeg Jets. He played in the NHL for over a decade, showing his skills as a goaltender. He decided to stop playing professional hockey after the 1984 season.

Life After Hockey

Today, Mike Veisor works at Avon Old Farms School in Avon, Connecticut. He is the manager of the ice rink there.

Mike's son, Michael David Veisor, Jr., also played hockey. He was drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft. Mike Jr. played college hockey and in minor leagues, but he did not play in the NHL like his father.
