Mike Vernon is a famous Canadian ice hockey player. He was born on February 24, 1963, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Mike played as a goaltender in the National Hockey League (NHL) for 21 years. He played for several teams, including the Calgary Flames, Detroit Red Wings, San Jose Sharks, and Florida Panthers.
Mike Vernon won the Stanley Cup twice. First, he won it with the Calgary Flames in 1989. Then, he won it again in 1997 with the Detroit Red Wings. When he won with the Red Wings, he also received the Conn Smythe Trophy. This award is given to the most valuable player in the playoffs. After retiring in 2002, he now works for the Tampa Bay Lightning.
