Milan (pronounced MY-lən) is a city located in Sullivan County, Missouri, United States. It is the main town, also known as the county seat, of Sullivan County. In 2020, about 1,819 people lived there.

Geography of Milan
Milan is found where two Missouri roads, Route 5 and Route 6, meet. A stream called Locust Creek flows along the west side of the city. A special nature area, the Locust Creek Conservation Area, is just a short distance southwest of Milan.
The city covers a total area of about 1.78 square miles (4.62 square kilometers). Most of this area, about 1.77 square miles (4.59 square kilometers), is land. A very small part, about 0.01 square miles (0.02 square kilometers), is water.
History of Milan
Milan was first planned out in the year 1845. It is believed that the city was named after the famous city of Milan in Italy. A post office opened in Milan in 1847, helping people send and receive mail.
Several important historical buildings in Milan are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. These include the Camp Ground Church and Cemetery, the Milan Railroad Depot, and the Quincy, Omaha and Kansas City Railroad Office Building. These places help tell the story of Milan's past.
