Milkybar is a popular white chocolate candy. It has been made by Nestlé since 1936. This sweet treat is sold in many countries around the world. In places like Europe and Latin America, it is known as Galak.

Nestlé says that Milkybar does not have any artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. In Australia and New Zealand, Milkybar is made without cocoa butter. This means it is not called "chocolate" there. In South Africa, Milkybar is also made without cocoa butter. It uses milk powder, sugar, and vegetable fats instead.

The Galak brand was first launched by Nestlé in Switzerland. At that time, Nestlé was known as Nestlé-Peter-Cailler-Kohler. Galak was the very first white chocolate brand to be sold.

Advertising Campaigns

Companies often use special ads to help people learn about their products. Milkybar and Galak have had some famous advertising campaigns over the years.

The Milkybar Kid

Since 1961, a special character called the Milkybar Kid has appeared in TV ads for Milkybar. The Milkybar Kid is a young child with blond hair and glasses. They are usually dressed like a cowboy. Their famous saying is: "The Milkybars are on me!"

These ads often take place in a Wild West setting. Both real actors and animated characters have played the Milkybar Kid. For a long time, the character was always a boy. But in 2010, an 8-year-old girl from New Zealand, Hinetaapora Short, was chosen to be the Milkybar Kid.

In the UK, Australia, and New Zealand, the ads used to have a song. It talked about "the goodness that's in Milky Bar." More recent ads have changed the song. Now it talks about "the good taste that's in Milkybar."

Galak's Dolphin Friend

In France, Galak was promoted using a cartoon show from 1971. The show was called Oum le Dauphin Blanc (which means "Zoom the White Dolphin"). Characters from the show appeared on Galak packaging and in commercials.

In these ads, two children, Yann and Marina, and their white dolphin friend Oum would often defeat bad guys. These bad guys included pirates or sharks. Nestlé stopped using this cartoon in 2003. However, some products with Oum's picture were still sold in 2004. This led to a legal case about who owned the rights to the characters.
