History of Milledgeville
Milledgeville was first planned out in 1855. In the same year, a mill was built on the land where the town now stands. The name "Milledgeville" actually comes from this mill! It's a mix of "mill" and "edge of ville," meaning a mill on the edge of a town. A post office has been open in Milledgeville since 1877, helping people send and receive mail.
