Visitors to Millers Pond State Park can enjoy many activities. You can go fishing in the pond. There are also trails for hiking and mountain biking. Some areas allow hunting during certain times of the year.

Park History

Millers Pond has a long and interesting history. Back in 1704, a man named Thomas Miller built a dam here. He created a reservoir (a place to store water) to power his gristmill. A gristmill is a building where grain is ground into flour.

The state of Connecticut bought Millers Pond and 170 acres of nearby woodlands in 1955. They bought this land from the family of Thomas Macdonough Russell. This purchase was one of several made in the 1950s. The money for these purchases came from funds left by George Dudley Seymour. The state bought even more land around the pond in 1972. This made the park even bigger for everyone to enjoy.
