History of Millersburg
Millersburg was officially planned and laid out in 1852. This process is called "platting," which means creating a map of a town's streets and property lots. The city was named after its founder, a man named Reuben Miller.

School District Changes
Before 2009, Millersburg was part of the Deep River–Millersburg Community School District. This district was created in 1958 by combining the Millersburg and Deep River school districts. In 1992, the district stopped having its own high school. Instead, junior and senior high school students could choose to attend schools in either the English Valleys district or the Montezuma Community School District.
On July 1, 2009, the Deep River–Millersburg district officially joined the English Valleys district. A small part of the former district went to the Montezuma district. The old school building in Millersburg became empty after the change. There were ideas to turn it into housing for families in need.
