Exploring Milo's Past
Milo was founded on October 4, 1881. A person named J.L. Samples helped create the village. It was started when the Lexington and Southern Railroad, part of the Missouri Pacific Railroad, built a station nearby.
The name "Milo" might have come from Milo, Maine, or from an early settler named Milo Main. A post office has been open in Milo since 1883, helping people send and receive mail for over a century.
Discovering Milo's Location
Milo is found just east of US Route 71. This main road helps connect the village to other places. It is about six miles south of Nevada. Milo is also about 6.5 miles north of the community of Sheldon.
The village covers a very small area. According to the United States Census Bureau, Milo is about 0.20 square kilometers (or 0.08 square miles) in total size. All of this area is land, with no large bodies of water.
