The Story of Milton Center
Milton Center was first planned out and mapped in 1857. This process is called "platting," which means creating a map of a town or area. The village got its name from Milton Township, the larger area it is part of.
A post office was opened in Milton Center in 1861. At first, it was called "Milton Centre." The name was officially changed to "Milton Center" in 1893. The village became an official town, or "incorporated," in 1869.
